I’m the kind of person who finds it hard to switch off. Sitting in front of the TV at the end of the day isn’t something I do, and reading is generally how I start my day, followed by a workout. So last year when I was getting particularly restless and feeling the need to learn something new (again), I decided to have a go at Zentangle. There’s never really a grey area when I get my mind set on something; I either give it my all or I give it up completely. There’s never a half-arsed attempt; I’m either in or I’m out and that’s pretty much how I am with everything.

Like most people, my little nuggets of inspiration or full on a-ha moments, always appear when I’m doing something completely unrelated to the a-ha moment I’ve been waiting for. Mine usually make an appearance during one of the following situations; when I’m working out, when I’m in the shower or when I’m out walking. As if by magic, like a fairy waving a wand, this is how my ideas wash over me.

It’s always nice to work on new wrapping paper designs, but even more so when it’s for a special occasion. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I decided it was about time to add a couple of newbies into the mix for all those loved up folk out there.

As 2015 fades away into the distance, I find myself looking back over the year and feeling a little nostalgic. Like most business owners, I find it good to glance backwards and see what worked, what didn’t, what I could have done better/differently and also see how far I’ve come.

I opened The Last Twinkie in 2013, but as my virtual shelves lay empty for the best part of a year, I don’t count that as the beginning. For me, my business really started towards the end of 2014 and even though The Last Twinkie isn’t anywhere near being a full time business venture (yet), so far, I’m happy with my progress. Having run my own photography business for the last 5 years, I know how difficult it can be starting out and how the first year especially can be very much trial and error. I know that it’s only early days, and that I still have a long way to go, but I’m pretty excited about the year ahead and putting new ideas into action.

I’m not the most View Post

I have to admit that getting this blog up and running has been on my to do list since February last year. But with one thing or another it just kept getting pushed further and further towards the bottom. I find that the first post on any blog is always the hardest to hit the publish button on, but here we are: published. This first post is just to say hello, welcome and thank you for taking the time to visit. Although right at this moment in time, the only two people reading this might be my husband and my bestie <waves>; but we all have to start somewhere. In my little corner of the blogosphere you can expect to find plenty of photos, blog posts about where I find my inspiration, sneaky peeks of my latest products and work in progress shots of what I’m up to. You can also catch my full bio over on my about me page (is there anything more painful to write?), but if you don’t have time for the long version, please keep reading for the shorter story of how my little shop was born.
